Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: The motor vehicle inspector of ny/commercial vehicle safety bureau/region 5-frank phelps, has written nhtsa to inform us that he/colleagues has found that there has been a number of front air line hose defects on the steering axle of these trucks. they are leaking air upon brake application through the sides of the air hose.(putting the truck out of service) at times the leaks are so bad, that the vehicles are not able to maintain air pressure at idle. there has also been an occasion where the brake hose kinks on the service brake air line near the glad hand. the year of the trucks are as followed: 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002. the inspector has a hose in his possession that looks like the steel reinforcement is rusting out and breaking the strands, causing a loss of strength in the sides of the hose, resulting in them blowing out. and specifically, with one 2000 truck, the front spring hanger bolt are loose in the axle shifting. *scc
