Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: One year after purchase, the vehicle developed an exhaust noise on the right side, the y pipe was replaced, however 18 months later the vehicle developed the exhaust noise again on the right bank and the y pipe was replaced again, consumer noticed a slight exhaust noise, which persisted for several years, which was becoming quite loud, during a 5 week period in which the vehicle was being repaired, consumer was informed that there was a broken exhaust manifold bolt, and the dealer needed to remove the right head which was eventually damaged by the dealer when trying to drill out the old manifold bolt, the dealer sent the manifold bolt to a machine shop to extract the broken bolt, consumer was later infomred that the exhaust manifold was warped and required replacement, however during a recreational show, consumer was informed that the y pipe and manifold was caused by a design defect in the vehicle, it appears that the exhaust system is too restrictive causing the right bank to overheat, melting the y pipe and warping the manifold and the only way to fix the problem was to install an after market low resistance high efficiency exhaust system.(four winds 29sdb, 1993 motorhome)*jb
