| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: From the beginning of owning the vehicle, headlight out put has been too low to see on low beam setting. i must use the highbeams to see in the dark, which disturbs oncoming drivers. all dealers have ever said is, "that's the way the mark viii's headlights are" or, "you can replace the whole lamp assembly and it might improve." that will cost approx. $700-$1000, and won't even ensure that the light output will increase. this defect is very well know by dealers, but we need to get ford to admit the problem and repair it. this was their top-of-the-line model, and the headlights don't even function properly! i've even replaced the bulb assemblies with high-output xenon bulbs, with very little improvement. the only other option is replacing the entire headlamp units. again, ford, not the consumer, should absorb this cost. i'm sure people have complained about this defect, but am unable to find a recall anywhere. it seems to me that headlights (i.e., being able to see while driving) are just as important a feature as seatbelts. please advise me what to do. thank you, steve hart (203) 891-8833. *ak |
