Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: We have only used this car seat for about 20 months, because we used the infant carrier seat prior to that. so it was stored in it's box until 20 months ago. last thursday, we put my 35 month old in the car seat, he was buckled and then the place where the shield was attached (to the main part of the car seat in the back of the car seat. it is the joint area which moves when the shield / harness are lifted over the child to hook and unhook the harness) just fell apart. it broke technically, but the screw looks normal, the spring does, and the plastic parts are not broken it just simply came apart. i called century and they were not helpful at all. i know this was a relatively new design of a car seat when we purchased it, so i feel very strongly that it is a structural design flaw. if we had been in an accident, there is no doubt in my mind that this car seat would not have protected my child, because i think that with an impact, like an accident, this would have probably happened sooner. i want to make sure that i gave you the necessary information on this, century ovation, model number #4665nsk, manuf. date 3/20/97. *ak |
