| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: The sharp carosel mocrowave/convection cooking unit is mounted under a corian counter top. according to manufacturer's instructions it must be mounted no more than 2 inches from any surface. the oven vent on the rear of the unit vents into a wooden enclosed cabinet topped with a corian counter top. the oven is capable of generating 450 degrees of heat, and this heat is trapped in the wooden cabinet the unit vents into. additionally, the counter top transmits the vented heat so anyone touching the counter top will butn their hand. this is clearly a fire hazard as well as a hazard for recieving burns from touching the counter top. this unit was installed by the manufacturer of the airstream travel trailer, thor industires, of ohio. dillon's rv city is currently working with thor engineers to determine an appropriate fix for this problem. they were unable to tell me if anyone else lodged a concern for this issue. this travel trailer was manufactured oct. 2000 as a 2001 model and sold in 2002. i am assuming there are several more similar units existing that may also be a fire hazard.*ak |
