Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: Letter from charlene blake (va) requesting nhtsa to test affected toyota vehicles for premature oil break down, oil viscosity loss and engine seizing; reply in duplicate retn enclosure to the richmond ofc, ref ccm 5540/s/weinstein 06/12/2002, dot #2002-2272. senator allen wrote on behalf of consumer group that has been very vocal about engine seizing in toyota vehicles that were showing signs of oil sludge in engine oil, and premature loss of viscosity related to either premature oil break down or extensive fuel in oil. petitioned nhtsa to look into the matter again. previous petition was denied by nhtsa because it appeared to have limited safety implications within the meaning of nhtsa's authorizing statute. *ak *jb
