| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Two times, on on 9/99 & the recent on 3/3/00, first at 9800 miles and the 2nd. at 28,236 miles. speed at first was at 55mph. and the 2nd. time at 65mph. this is a class a motorhome with a ford f- super duty chassis with a 34ft. itasca by winnebago on it. the first time i hit a raised spot on the cement highway with the left front tire, and the 2nd. time it was a 10 inch. dia.,approx. 2inch deep chuck hole with the left front tire. when it hits these disturbuances it causes the font end to go into a very tremendous shimmy, that is so serve that i have to come to within 5mph. of a complete stop before it will come back to normal steering again. i have hit holes and cracks with the right front and does not bother it. the suspension, wheel bearing, shocks, steering box, pitman and linkage have been checked and all tight. it also has a hydraulic steering control on the steering cross shaft, which i do believe without it i could loose control before getting stopped. this shimmy or heebie jeebies is so violent that the whole motorhome is shaking things off of the table or knocking things onto the floor. i can not find any bulletins on this problem, and have read where class c cutaway 350 fords are having a problem similar to mine. this has happened 2 times in 28,300 miles which is not much, but i get on a rough section of highway and it does cause mr to sit on pins and needles wondering when and if its going to go into its heebie- jeebies. any help will be appreciated. thankyou. *ak |
