| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: On 4/28/2000 i was traveling at about 65 mph in el paso, tx, when the tire tread separated from the tire on the left rear tire of my 1993 jeep cherokee. when the left rear tire failed, the vehicle started shaking very violently and the back end of the vehicle swung around to the right. at that time, the vehicle started tipping to the right and then the vehicle spun out completely. the vehicle spun around several times before coming to a rest. this occurred during 5pm rush hour traffic on a very busy road. i was extremely lucky that i did not sustain any injuries but my vehicle sustained damage to the rear left wheel well and body damage where the tread came off and hit the back end of the body of the vehicle. the tires were purchased at a firestone dealer in 6/1996. the tires were firestone firehawk atx tires. unfortunatley, i no longer have the failed tire since i was not aware of the problem when the accident occurred. i do have all the receipts showing the purchase of the firestone tires as well as documentation on replacement tires as well as receipts for the parts on my vehicle that had to be repaired due to the tire failure. again, i was very lucky, so i urge you to prevent this situation from occuring in the future if at all possible.( dot number: tire size: 30x9.5xr15 ) |
