Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: I purchased my pickup from fowler chevrolet in lakeport, ca. a year or so ago, i had it repaired by santa rosa chevrolet in santa rosa, ca for a defective injector that was leaking and prior to that time i could smell a strong odor of gasoline. within 3 months of having this repair work done, i once again thought i could smell a strong odor of gas on starting and stopping. however, i dismissed it as my imagination until the problem began to occur more often. prior to the christmas holiday, i had one son look at the engine and he said there was a smell of gasoline and possibly a leak.while with the other son in san carlos at christmas, i left my truck at boardwalk auto center in redwood city, ca for 3 days.their report was that they could find nothing, so they steam cleaned the engine and charged me $95.00, and sent me on my way. however, when i arrived home, the problem was still there. even with a newly steam cleaned engine, i can smell a strong odor of gasoline when starting and turning off the ignition. after parking my pickup, when walking around it, one can smell a strong odor of gas. i got on the internet and began to check for safety recalls and discovered that within a year of taking delivery of my pickup, there was a recall for a fuel tank seal leak. when i questioned chevrolet, they gave me the name of a company from whom i could purchase technical service bulletins. they never did address the safety recall on the fuel tank seal leak. they still have not answered my 2nd inquiry. was there a safety recall for a fuel tank seal leak as i was informed? i never received notice of this recall. what is going on with chevrolet? i have an extended mechanical breakdown insurance policy which expires on 01-17-01, but can't get the truck repaired because no one seems to be able to diagnose this problem. what am i to do?*ak
