Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Car is a 1992 mitsubishi 3000gt vr4. both front seat belts do not retract (roll back up) after being pulled out. as a result, they often get stuck in the door, thus wearing on the belt, also sometimes when buckled and pulled tight, part of the belt is jammed in the door, which then comes out with a stronger pull. i am afraid that the belt, due to being worn like this and due to not becoming tight after being put on, the belt may not work properly in a car accident. i have had the issue since i bought my car in 2000. i have taken it to the dealer and was told that it was not their problem - they refused to cover it because they do not cover seat belts under their warranty. i have also purchased a 1994 dodge stealth (identical car to the 3000gt, but re-sold by dodge) in march of 2005 and it has the same problem with both front seat belts. i have heard many other owners complain of this and it seems to be a manufacturer defect. my international car owner's club www.3si.org has started a campaign to have this problem recalled by the nhtsa so that we may have working seat belts. please help! *nm |
