Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: The problem is related to malfunction of the rearview mirrors supplied with the vehicle since date of purchase. these rearview mirrors do not monitor the real distance of the approaching vehicles from the back, giving the wrong impression to the driver that those vehicles are farther back than they really are. while on the maneuver of changing lanes based on the wrong information these mirrors monitor to me, i have been on the verge of several serious accidents. the right rearview mirror was changed during a recall campaing last year, but the improvement to the situation already described is really minimal. this situation was already informed to the nhtsa since sept/2000 and the reference number 554764 was asssigned to it. my querry was referred to the office of safety performance standards (nps-01), as per a letter dated mar/20/2001, signed by alberto a. jiminez. |
