| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: When engine speed falls to idle (with fan and radio and defrost all set to off), all lights in car, and the headlights, will dim. it's very noticeable. when engine speed rises, lights brighten. i've had the car in muliple times to get this fixed. the dealer has recently been in contact with mitsubishi motors and their techs told the mechanics to check various things (like bad grounds), but nothing has been found to be a problem. mitsubishi now says that it's "normal operation." this car never used to do this up until around novermber 2000. a person who works at burlington mitsuibishi grabbed a new galant off the lot, and the lights didn't dim at idle. i also had a 1996 mitsubishi galant and i did not have problems with the lights dimming. i don't feel this is a safety issue at this point, but who knows what might happen. i want to sell this car (cause i needed and bought an all-wheel drive car) and i feel that this condition is going to hurt the value of this car. i know that if i were to buy it from someone, i'd not be happy to see these lights dimming at idle. i feel that i'm being strong-armed by mitsubishi because they don't know what the problem is. so far the altenator has been replaced, and the rest has been testing. *ak |
