Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Hello. i purchased my bmw motorcycle new on 5/3/00 from bmw-ducatic of charlotte, nc . the rear end differential completely failed while enroute to the dealership to have this problem diagnoised. the dealership repaired the differential with a completely new unit from bmw as the motorcycle was under warranty at the time. since this failure i have had zero problems since. however, and this is very important, had i not stopped at a rest area on interstate 85 while enroute to charlotte, nc i may not be alive today. while coming into the rest area at approximately 70 mph the rear end 'let go'. there have been numerous failures of this differential on this model of bmw as well as other models of bmw motorcycles. thank you for your time and effort. sincerely, [xxx].*ak parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). |
