Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: I spilled a cup of coffee over the shifter in my car. the electric in the car completely shut down. this included brakes, steering, engine, windows and door locks. as i was traveling on an uphill exit ramp. i was able to bring the car to a stop without an accident. when i called mercedes, they asked if i spilled something. i asked why and they said this was the fifth complaint they had at that service station about the power/electric going off when there was a spill in the area of the shifter. i think this is a dangerous design since they put the coffee holder directly over the shifter. apparently, mercedes puts the computer system below the shifter. this could have resulted in a serious crash if i was traveleing at highway speed and the power shut down. thank you. i have the repair slip if you need to know the precise parts that were replaced.
