| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Neck on plastic fuel tank cracked - fuel leaking all under truck & on floor of garage. problem was noticed when i started to move truck to go to work. after backing truck out of garage and seeing fuel on floor, i called a for a tow. dealer indicates that plastic fuel tank has cracked for no apparent reason. no indication of impact. original fuel tank is nolonger availiable from ford. a new style (dealer indicates new style tank and fuel fill are required) repalcement is being ordered and installed by the dealer. what would make a fuel tank crack without some type of inpact? i looked under the truck and a large area of the underside was covered with fuel. i think i was lucky not to have a fire in my house when i started the truck. i had just filled up the tank and there was a circle of fuel about 2ft. across on the floor of the garage. *ak |
