Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: The break away switch in mounted by a bolt through 1/4" fiberglass, the dealer changed the lanyard to a shorter cable under warrantee (old cable was comming apart), i pulled out of the parking spot after picking rv up and break away switch ripped out of fiberglass, and did not pull lanyard out of switch. i have looked at other fleetwoods and i feel all the fiberglass models have this switch mounted the same way without any reinforcment. had the trailer come off the hitch, it would have never stopped! there would have been a 11k lbs rig going down the road with no brakes! my dealer mounted a 6"x6" piece of alunimum plate on both sides of the fiberglass and now it works (i have tested it). i am happy with my repair, but the factory has 1000's of rv's out there that the break away switch will rip out of the fiberglass if the lanyard is not pulled from a straight direction out of the switch. *ak |
