Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: The rubber sleeve that protects the exposed throttle cable from dirt had started to melt (from engine heat). the rubber had melted around the throttle cable causing the cable to be held in the open position. when i took my foot off the accelerator and discovered the throttle was sticking i started banging on the side of the pedal with my foot thinking that the problem was with the pedal itself causing the throttle to be pressed more. this happend while traveling south on us 301 approaching the us 70 intersection in selma, north carolina. after i did get the vehicle shut off, i checked around the throttle area under the hood and found the rubber melting onto the cable. i took off what was left and cleaned the cable and have not had a problem since.*ak |
