| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: I noticed that the abs pump under the drivers seat was running all the time. i'm confident that the abs was not working. my wife didn't notice the sound because it wasn't really loud. i unplugged the abs under the truck and drove it to a repair shop. i was told this is a common problem. when the garage picked up the part at the gmc dealership, they were told this is a common problem and they couldn't keep enough control modules in stock. this is a dealer part #88935872 "abs control module with a cost of $682.50. total cost of the repair was $839.77. (the dealer would have charged more). my first concern is that many drivers would not have noticed the problem and secondly i can't imagine that an abs control system would fail in just over 2 years and at only 44,000 miles. because this is obviously such a common problem i feel that general motors should be required to upgrade the system and/or offer an extended warranty on the abs. the dealer said many people just disconnect the abs rather than pay the high cost of repair. |
