Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: After taking my car in for a scheduled 45000 mile service in september 2001, i noticed that the driver door was making a popping noise. i thought that the door had simply not been lubed. when i took my vehicle in for the next service in january 2002, i specified that the door was popping and to make sure it was lubed. i was assured that it would be lubed. when i picked up my vehicle it was still making the popping noise. within a week it was making a horrible noise. i called and was told that the door hinge had most likely broken away from the frame of the vehicle and would have to be re-welded. i was told that this was something they had seen previously on this model and others, and that it was not due to wear or tear on the car. i believe this to be a defect in the assembly of the car. i do not know if a safety issue exists with regard to exiting the car following a collision, or with the door's structural integrity during a collision.*ak
