Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: The child seat failure consisted of a cable connecting the latch plate to the belt tensioner mechanism. the failure is not faile "safe". a failure safe mode would maintain the seat belt and child restrained. the failure mode instead leaves the belt loose. this leaves parents with a false sense of security since they believe their child is safely restrained. this is also an expensive repair since chrysler designed the integrated child seats contained in the bench to be unmaintainable requiring parents to purchase the complete bench in excess of $600. nlm
