Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: My 1999 durango has had several costly repairs none of which should have ever had to be made to a vehicle with such few miles on it. (1) there was a clicking noise in the steering column and the directional control was moving. dodge told me i had to replace the steering column$$$$ at less than 40,000 miles. i have had cars and trucks with 200,000 miles that never had to have any such thing done. (2) heater box damper has apparently come loose and sometimes will not open or close. dodge told me it would cost $900.00 to just take the dashboard apart to look at it. i told them for $900.00 i could live with it. again, less than 40,000 miles. (3) power windows are slow and sometimes do not work at all. (4) uneven tire wear and noise coming from front end, after reading other complaints i fear ball joints are in the near future. i understand that chrysler has recalled the 2000-2003 durangos for ball joints, when are they going to recall the 1998 and 1999 durangos. my wife and i are constantly hauling girl scouts and cub scouts to various events, i feel chrysler should take it into consideration why people buy suvs and that lives are at risk. *jb |
