"malfunctioning fuel injection systems (scpi) cause significant increases in air pollution". gm will fix the problem at no cost to the vehicle owners. the fuel systems were replaced with the new mfi units. gm settled with the california epa to avoid a threat of a nationwide recall. i own a vehicle that falls into this category but do not live in california. i contacted local dealerships as well as the chevrolet customer care center for assistance and was told that only vehicles in california were eligible to be repaired. all affected vehicles manufactured by gm with the defective scpi fuel system should be treated in the same manner as this is not only an issue for vehicles driven in california. the fuel injector (oem part number 17091432). replacing plugs, wires, distributor cap & rotor, cleaning injector & induction systems does not eliminate the basic problem which is a defective scpi fuel system. see url (http://www.arb.ca.gov/newsrel/nr021103.htm) for specifics. *jb |
