Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: The oem fuel pump fits into the gas tank. the positive wire leading into the tank shorted out melting the wire insulation on the outside of the gas tank melting the plastic into causing gas to leak out through the hole it created. this gas flowed over the bare wire. the same wire continues into the inside of the gas tank and it continued to short in there causing the plastic inside of the gas tank to turn brown from the heat. my concern is a spark would have been created perticularly if the tank was partially full the fumes would have ignited causing a serious explosion. the dealership where i bought the replacement part said there are no recalls and the same holds true with the data on your site. the concern should be there are thousands of this model type out there that may have the same dangerous condition.*ak |
