| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Read article regarding nhtsa investigation indicating that "supr spoke" wheels have been failing castastrophically. odi is aware of 11 spoke-related failures of super spoke wheels manufactured by aerican wire wheel, inc. of denton, tx. all catastrophic failures of he aww wheel resulted from its "defective design, with absence of quality control. on 10/10/02 odi opened an investigation, they were informed that aaw, inc. had sold its assets to dayton wheel concepts of dayton, on. on 9/3/02 included in the sale was the purhaase of all materials related to aww's production of "super spoke" model wheels. there have been several related failures occurring between 2/2000 & 9/02. since odi's request for info. dayton produced 32 super spoke wheels using aww components. of these 24 were recalled due to steel spokes pulling out of the machined aluminum hub with a potential for vehile crash & resultating in serious injuries. odi continues to gather information about these wheels & to ascertain whether, despite the sale of its assets to dayton, american wire wheel and/or any of its related companies can be held responsible for the super spoke wheels it produced. i would like to know why i have not been notified, and received a recall notice. if my life or someone else on the road is in danger, what can i do. |
