Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: In march 2003 a firestone steeltex tires failed on my itasca 29ft class c motor home. the tread came off in pieces with the tire remaining at 80 lbs following the separation (inside rear dual). on july 7, 2003 the opposite side inside dual tire also did the same thing. these were original tires with 30,000 when the 1st tire went and and 3400 miles when the second went...again maintaining the 80lb pressure. both were firestone steeltex radials lt 225/75r16 e. on both occasions a firestone dealer looked at the tires and saw there was no damage to the tire other than the separation. i sent the tire in to firestone for their evaluation and they said it wasn't the fault of the tire, and gave me several reasons what could have caused this, none of these occurred. after the second tire went, i replaced all tires with michelin lt 225/75r16 ltx m/s bw (n6hs). speed for both occurrences was 55mph with 75 degree outside temperature.*ak |
