| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: While driving my 2000 ford f-350 on freeway 80 west from davis ca, the right rear firestone steeltex atx size 245/75x16 developed a large bubble and tread separation. tire is factory supplied original with only 30,760 miles on it, tread still has 25% of depth left. tire was always noted to have run hotter than the others, but did not give any warning that failure was emmanent. when i questioned 2 firestone dealers about the high rate of failure for their tires, i was told that these tires have always been good and this has not been a problem. when i questioned them about getting a settlement toward buying another brand of tire, they got quite upset and defensive, refusing to do anything except a prorated amount toward a new firestone tire. i told them i was not interested in having another firestone tire, and they would not do anything else. i was not at all happy about the way i was treated, or about having to shell out for all new tires, since i don't trust the firestone tires remaining on this truck.*ak |
