Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Change to complaint 10037055. the incident is the same. while on the freeway the van dove down and to the left. seconds later, smoke was pouring from the tire and then it blew out. after struggling to get off the road, initial examination showed that the bracket holding the tie rod end from the front stabilizer bar had broken loose from the strut tower. the tie rod end had then pushed between the strut and the tire with the metal bracket end rubbing against the tire sidewall. revision the strut bracket that failed was from monroe and was not an oem part. further investigation of strut, once removed from the vehicle, showed that a critical weld between the bracket and the strut tower had never been made. i have taken pictures if you are interested.*ak |
