Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: I took my 2000 honda civic to a local dealership a year ago to see why my car would stall for no apparent reason. happened maybe once every three months and i'm concerned of a crash. dealership ran several tests and could not find a thing wrong. since then my vehicle stills stalls for no apparent reason maybe once every few months. usually i don't think about it until it happens. i researched the internet for recalls and found there is a recall for the electrical system:ignition:switch. nhtsa campaign id number : 02v120000. i called honda at 1-800-999-1009 and was told my vehicle number was not part of the recall. i truly believe this is what's wrong with my car so my complaint is honda's vehicle number scope needs to include my vehicle so i can safely drive without fear that my car will stall and cause a crash. see below for details make : hondamodel : civicyear : 2000 nhtsa campaign id number : 02v120000 recall date : may 13, 2002 component: electrical system:ignition:switch potential number of units affected : 1000000 on certain sedans, coupes, hatchbacks, and sport utility vehicles, electrical contacts in the ignition switch can degrade due to the high electrical current passing through the switch when the vehicle is started. consequence: worn contacts could cause the engine to stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. remedy: dealers will replace the ignition switch. owner notification began june 14, 2002. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact honda at 1-800-999-1009 or acura at 1-800-382-2238. notes: customers can also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).*ak
