Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Thule 993 expressway bike rack that fits on car hitch. used for the first time in 30 degree f weather. the cradle that holds bikes is made of hardened plastic or rubber. in warm weather the cradle stays in place on arms but in cold weather the cradle contracts and slips on arm. one of the bikes slid on arms and came off of rack and was damaged while car was at 65 mph. there is a cap at the end of the arm made of plastic and held in place by a single screw. in this instance the momentum of the sliding bike tore the cap off and the cradle was able to slid off of arm. *nlm |
