Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: From: region4 to: gilbert g glover[smtp:ggg@mchsi.com] i went to http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/nhtsa/whatis/regions/faqs.html the closes match was related to i have a problem with a car purchased from a local dealer. my problem was that during collision repair work at. biggs highway 17 south elisabeth city, n.c. 27909 ph. (800) 342-4447 ph. (252) 338-2131 biggs service center replaced the leaf springs on my s-10 chevy truck for biggs collsion repair center. biggs put the bolts that hold the leaf spring in backwards from the way that they were orginally done from the factory by gm. the insurance company that was footing the bill for repairs was not my insurance company but. geico direct one geico landing virgina beach, va 23454-5694 i complained to geico direct 1-800-582-8114 ext 6091 and talked to ammanda and stated that the bolts were not correctly installed. but they didn't do much in the way of getting biggs to address this issue. biggs stated to me that they put the bolts in they way they took them out . i had to call gm and talked with jerimey beath at 1-866-952-4368 ext 58642 ticket number 1-152726695. i stated that i felt that it was a safety issue as now the bolt threads were now pointing at the gas tank and muffler and that if my truck was hit from the side that there was a better chance that the gas tank or muffler could be penetrated by the bolt threaded end then if the bolt head was facing the gas tank or muffler and the boult head was about 1/4" and the thread end of the bolt sticks out about 1". it took over a week to get a reply back from gm and then gm wanted to verify the direction that the bolts were put back in. gm did tell biggs that they needed to flip the bolts and they have been. i was woundering don't car dealers have to have certified machanics that know how to do repair's so they don't create saftey issues. is there some action that i can take to try to prevent this from happening to others.
