Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: During a recent (mild) snow storm, both the power sliding doors on my 2000 honda odyssey minivan refused to open. after a few attempts, the motors of both doors gave up altogether; the beeping sound that indicates the blocking of doors also stopped. when i tried to open the driver's side door, the handle broke off. i had the door motors repaired at my honda dealer. they told me that the contacts were moist and therefore the doors did not work. at 42.000 miles i thought this was odd, but i could accept such a defect. i am really concerned, though, about the fact that the door handle broke off just like that. i have two children (4 and 5). the youngest cannot get out of his car seat by himself and i could not get to him quickly. fortunately, we were not in an accident. i notified honda about this and i herewith report the issue. i hope that honda will pay for the repairs, even though the car is no longer under warranty for these matters. i contact the nhtsa also, since i feel this is a major issue. i know that i did not apply any unreasonable force to the door handle to make it break. i can easily imagine someone (in a panic?) doing the same. *ak
