Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: My mother owns a 1991 mitsubishi 3000gt vr4, since she isn't competent in using the computer i am sending this in for her. this model car has a common problem in the transaxle with the 18-spline shaft. this part of the car is considered the weak link. the shaft snapped while driving the car and almost caused an accident since it was on a highway with no shoulders to pull over on. luckily there was not a lot of traffic and the car was able to change lanes and put the hazard lights on without incident. i am hoping that nhtsa can assist owners of this car in getting a recall for these 18-spline transmissions. thanks. *ak
