Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: I own an evenflo, on my way-position right v car seat, manufactured 10/16/00. the plastic harness adjustment box on the back of the seat broke and separated from the shell of the seat. when i contacted evenflo about a replacement part or seat, i was told that i needed to pay for the replacement part. evenflo stated that this problem would not affect the performance of the seat. i definitely disagree with this statement. with an unattached harness adjustment box, there is no way to tighten the harness, leaving the strap loose and compromising the safety of the seat and that of my child. my husband contacted evenflo a second time to express our dissatisfaction with their lack of concern, and was again told that we would have to pay for the replacement part. i recently visited a website, www.carseat.org, which listed this as a common problem with the evenflo product. since this safety issue is occurring frequently, i don't understand why evenflo is not responsible for a remedy. this is an obvious flaw in the design of the seat, which is putting the safety of children at risk. why am i, the consumer, responsible for paying to fix this error?
