Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: Vehicle consumes oil at an alarming rate. the recommended oil change interval is every 3000 miles, however in that time the vehicle would consume more than its oil capacity, resulting in the car running without oil. vw is aware of the issue and performs "oil consumption tests" on vehicles, but many dealership service departments are reluctant to do so and always claim that 1 quart of oil consumption per 1000 miles is "normal" and refuse to perform any service unless the consumption exceeds that amount.*ak
