Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: We own a 1996 jayco eagle 244sl travel trailer. on the front of the trailer is a storage area which is made of abs plastic. last year, we developed a crack in the lid for the storage area which is also made of abs plastic and a crack in the abs plastic whcih forms the storage area. all the cracks are developing from either where a pop rivet or a screw was placed in the abs plastic. the cracks appear to be some kind of stress crack which is caused by the impoperr design and installation of the storage area. over this past winter, another crack devolped in the lid of the storage area. it appears that the storage area is falling apart which could cause debris from the trailer to be discarded on the highway. i contacted jayco earlier this year and advised them of the problem. i told a company rep. that my problem appeared to be a safety issue and needed to be addressed by jayco. the company rep told me that my trailer was out of warranty and i should have this saftey issue fixed myself at my own expense. it would seem to me that if a product is falling apart, the company should repair it so it doesn't cause harm to the public. *ak
