Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: We own a 1999 ford windstar van. we were at a school event with our children and when we got in our car, we thought we spotted smoke but was not sure if it was or if it was exhaust from the car in front of us (we were parallel parked). we went to the gas station and under the lights we saw alot of smoke pouring out from under the hood. my husband popped the hood and there was a fire! we backed the van up away from the gas pumps and everyone got out fine. we had to use a fire extinguisher to get the fire out. we took it to a dealership and the technicians there showed us that the cruise control switch was messed up. we had them order us a new part and we replaced it. the wiring harness in the van is still damaged as we did not have the funds to replace it. i am reporting this because of the recall i heard about yesterday (1/27/05) regarding the 2000 ford trucks and suvs. i am positive that our van had the same defect.*ak |
