Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: driving home vehicle quit in traffic. after sitting for approximately an hour, vehicle started and we made it home. after having vehicle checked it was determined that the alternator needed to be replaced/rebuilt. diagnosis done by a local mechanic. it was rebuilt. vehicle ran well until the 28 april 2005 when the same thing occurred; this time it would not run after a boost. it was towed to the dealer, where a 'remanufactured' alternator was installed, at a cost of $850.00. the belts and a battery cable was also replaced at this visit. my concern stems from seeing there was a recall of 97/98 infinity i-30's, and so leads me to surmise that a problem may still exist with the alternators on other years of this vehicle. the dealer kept the old part.
