Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: >2/14/04 purchased 2000 inifinity i30 sedan from autobroker; > 11/10/04: vehicle at 67,950 odometer; taken first time to passport inifiniti/alexandria to check lazy/sleepy shifting (1st to 2nd gear and 2nd to 3rd gears) prob; driven 7 mi by tech; reported "no problem"/ no scanner used no major test; service writer noted "checked by outside shop" on ticket - as a warning? >6/10/05; vehicle at 71,720 mi odometer; problem more apparent; taken to rosenthal inifiniti; now out of warranty the cost is $2291 to fix inifiniti offers $650 toward total repair "solenoid valve assemply body/a/trans >6/16/05 returned to 1st dealership with "known service bulletin" and asked why when covered under warranty they didn't fix it; now i am expected to pay $2291 to repair a known problem with vehicles made before 2000 (my car made 11/99)? good will regional service mgr. offered only the $650; that it was my fault not having been the original owner who brought it in regularly for service with a dealership and that outside shop recommendation was a "kiss of death" for any dealership. do they not stand by their service bulletins? it was a known problem they didn't check it when car was under warranty and now i pay because it is out of warranty? is this fair. oh, but they will sell, wholesale to the "outside shop" the part or parts needed, at a lesser amount. that seems a bit inconsistent with their reasoning, doesn't it? it was me, the consumer, who found and brought to the passport infiniti svc mgr the service bulletin itb00-028b to show them the problem. they said once goodwill services makes a call on an appeal there is no other recourse. i think they should stand by their problems and pay for the repair. infinity consumer affairs file #497-0179 _______________ b. barrell they should cover the cost |
