Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: Dt: the consumer is having a problem with the bra that fits over the front end of the vehicle. the bras elastic band that goes inside the hood keeps melting due to engine heat. this is the second time that this happened on the same vehicle. this vehicle was bought from mitsubishi motors in minnesota abut 6 months ago. consumer considered this a safety defect because it was melting and could cause the engine to catch on fire. there have been no injuries or fires. consumer contacted mitsubishi and told them that this was happening, and the consumer was referred to nhtsa to file a complaint. consumer did not have any information on the dealership where the car was purchased. consumer moved to a different state. consumer has taken the bra off the vehicle. the first time that the consumer noticed this failure was in november 2004. the make of this item was a mitsubishi accessories. this will have to be listed as a different make on the rest of the complaint information. there was no serial number on the bra. consumer had been to the dealership and has also contacted the manufacturer of this part.*ak
