Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Driving down interstate 91 in mass. my 2003 ford expedition blew out a spark plug. this was a factory installed original plug . this vehicle is equipped with the 5.4 triton engine which seems to have a history of this problem. we had to be towed to a ford dealer for repairs. re-threading the engine head, replace the damaged coil pack and a new spark plug. with labor my bill was over $700. this does not include the tow fee and a night at a local hotel (we were traveling from out of state on vacation). upon researching this problem i have read dozens and dozens of stories like mine involving this triton class engine built by ford. a spark plug should not be blown out of the engine block period. when dozens and dozens of people write in to say their ford mustang, f150, expedition, f250, or excursion has blown out a plug that's unacceptable. *nm |
