Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: While opening my pop up chalet a frame trailer, there was a slight wind which took the front section of the roof and blew it completely over toward the tongue of the trailer. the only damage noticed is the aluminum extrusion that surrounds the front section of the roof is bent in a concave fashion. i contacted chalet and they said since it's out of warranty they aren't responsible for the problem. i told angie, the person i was speaking to, this is either a safety , design, manufacturing or all the above problem and the warranty period shouldn't have anything to do with it. she said she will tell her boss. as it turns out, there is no safety device to prevent the roof from blowing over. there are two bungee cords connected to the front and rear roofs that should help, but since mine had rotted away, they were gone. talking to angie, she said they have had roofs blow over even when the bungee cords were connected. there is nothing in any of the paper work i received that gives a warning about the possibility of the roof blowing over. i think i was just lucky there is no additional damage, nor did it completely detached and fly away. i've waited approximately a year to report this because i didn't know who to report this to, nor do i know if this is a reportable problem. i just returned from a trip and had to look at the damage every day and got madder about it every day, so i decided i must do something about this. i thought chalet rv inc. would see their liability, but no, and now i'm having to file this complaint. you don't list this company in your manufacture list, so here is the information: chalet rv inc. 725 se first ave. albany, or. 97321 (541)791-4610 (541)791-4618 fax www.chaletrv.com
