Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: I noted that a small puddle of fluid formed under my wife's car in the garage. so i started looking for the cause. i noted that the battery tray was wet and i had the charging system checked for an overcharge condition. i then spoke with a dealership about why a perfectly good battery would just start leaking acid all over the inside of the engine compartment, on the paint and mechanicals. i mean the car was in mint condition but now had acid running down inside the left side of the engine compartment and the wheel well. i was told via the dealer that delco had a known problem with its batteries and that dealers were warranty the situation under 36,000 miles. but because my vehicle had over 36,000 miles , i then i checked you site for a notice of recall and found none. i then went to a part store who told me that he has had customers who were stranded with batteries that had the positive battery post just fall off. so i checked my vehicle and you guessed it the negative post was tight but the positive post was nearly eaten away from the inside. i can not believe that delco would not stand behind this issue and that the nhtsa would not do an investigation to determine how many others have been subject to this. repair was completed by purchasing a non delco battery, by cleaning and repairing any damage to the car and my garage floor, from the acid. jr. *nm
