| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Driving home from work @ midnight when the heater started to emit cold air. car seemed to be running fine. no noises heard, temp gauge was low. pulled over to check for leaks or any other obvious problem, none apparent. continued to drive for several miles to get close to home, suddenly the temp gauge went all the way up to hot and the car started to fill with smoke, pulled to side of road immediately and engine quit. on country road, had to walk to get help. had car towed to repair shop where i was told a bearing was spun and the engine was blown. when i asked for an estimate to repair the station manager stated it would cost over $5,000 to repair and would be cheaper to look for a used engine but could not guarantee that the same problem would not occur. still owed approx. $5,000 on loan. had to trade it in and refinance with another vehicle. *jb |
