| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: the car stalled and was towed to a repair shop. the next day it was brought into the shop. the mechanic turned the ignition switch to start, and the intake manifold exploded, sending pieces of the manifold throughout the shop. the explosion also damaged the power steering pump. it was later discovered that the cause of the explosion was fuel that had collected in the manifold due to a crack in the plastic fuel rail. sometime during 1993 the manifold was re-designed to alleviate this problem, however, there were no recalls, leaving thousands(?) of cars with this potential problem. i did find a dealer service bulletin canceling an exchange program for the intake manifolds for this model and year.
