Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: I bought my 2000 chev monte carlo new in jan 2000. at approx 20000 miles i took it into the dealer because of 'rattling & clunking" noise in steering column. the dealer determined that it was the 'intermediate shaft" - it was fixed/replaced by the dealer at that time. at 37k miles - the same problem. again, the dealer replaced the intermediate shaft. now, at 77k miles - the same problem again. this time the dealer and gm will not pay for or cover the repair. while everyone admits that this is unusual - they say "it is out of warranty". i believe that a failure of this part is a significant safety issue and should be investigated. according to a source at the dealer - the failure of this part is a common complaint, however, replacing this unit 3 times is not a common occurence. your file odi id # 10037817 make reference to the same issue as mine. i greatly appreciate your looking at this. thanks. *ak
