Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: My complaint involves current use of extra bright headlights on many passanger cars, suvs and pickup trucks. the lights are blinding to uncoming mortorists, particularly on two lane roads. in addition the standard headlights on many of the suvs and pickup trucks are higher than the windshield of many passanger cars. this causes a hazard both to uncoming traffic but also to passanger cars being followed by such vehicles. cars used to be inspected to asssure their headlights were below a certain level which would cause a problem to oncoming traffic, whatever happened to this precaution. the national highway safety administration is doing nothing to protect the public from this hazard. all such vehicles should be recalled, as manufacturer expense, to retrofit their headlights from being a hazard to other vehicles. the manufacturers are creating two classes of drivers, one of which is at the mercy of the other. you are remiss in your obligation to promote highway safety by not condemning this hazard. |
