| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Replacement of firestone tires initiated by recall of 2/26/04. i replaced these tires in 2001 at 17,200 miles because of safety concerns. at that time there were many complaints to nhtsa and shortly thereafter an investigation was open. ford now uses e rated tires on the excursion which run at higher tire pressure. once again ford did not outfit the vehicle with a proper tire for the weight of the vehicle, rather opting for a smoother ride of a d rated tire. they were doing this because the front springs were also inadequate for a good ride. the used e rated tires on the f250 and f 350 from which the excursion is based. *ak |
