Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Imediately upon opening the gas cap after having rode the motorcycle for several hundred miles, so much pressure had built up in the tank that raw gas shot out of the tank. it went at least 10 feet high and covered my bike and the vehile next to me with raw fuel. approximately 1 to 2 gallons of gas where released in less than 2 seconds. although it scared me, we were lucky and no ignition occured. upon talking with other people with the same model of motorcycles, it appears that this is related to the vent not working correctly and has happened to lots of other people as well.this was a 2004 yamaha fjr1300 with appoximately 6,000 miles and in otherwise excellent condition.*ak |
