Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: I purchased a 2000 millenia millenia model that only has 39,000 miles on it. in october, 2003 my car mis-fired and the check engine light came on. the diagnosis was that the ignition coil for cylinder #2 was bad and needed replacing. at that time, mazda customer service paid for the part and i paid for the labor. a few days ago (six months later), an identical situation occurred and the diagnosis was that the ignition coil for cylinder # 6 was bad and needed replacing. the dealership called mazda inquiring about restitution, but this time, the company paid for nothing. i am very concerned about two things. first, what is the defect in my vehicle to precipitate the failure of two ignition coils in close succession? is this an engineering defect? further, am i going to have to go through this process for all 6 cylinders of my car engine? right now, i feel that i cannot trust my car for fear of a repeat occurrence with one or more of the other cylinders. second, if i have to replace all the coils, i figure that the investment will be between $1500 and $2000 to fully fix the car. this is an extraordinary expense to fix what i consider an engineering problem! is there a "product recall" or "special service program" to assist with paying for fixing this problem? ideally, i should have all of my ignition coils replaced in order to have a trustworthy car again. in summary, i believe that this is an unsafe situation and wanted to report it to you. thank you. |
