Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: I was on my way to san diego, ca from tucson, az, when my left front tire completely came apart and depressurized instantly. i was in a 30' rv towing a car and traveling 65 mph. the weather was clear and the temperature was approximately 75 degrees. i had just checked all the tire pressures the day before and set the front ones to 70 psi. the tires were about two years old and had about 4000 miles on them. they were always kept to the proper inflation and covered for protection. i had about 3 seconds of warning before the failure. the fenderwell was damaged and i was 50 miles from the nearest town. i managed to change the tire and slowly continued to yuma where i managed to get another spare from walmart at 4:00 p.m. on easter sunday. the tire was a firestone steeltex r4s 225/75/16. the dealer where i bought the tire said i had to return the tire for compensation. i wasn't about to haul a shredded tire in my motorhome for two weeks, so i received nothing. i immediately went and bought $1000.00 worth of michelins somewhere else.
